MADD Honors Kristin Bakker

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has bestowed the prestigious MADD Prosecutor Life Saver Award on Gratiot County Chief Assistant Prosecutor, Kristin Bakker. The award is given annually to one or two prosecutors in Michigan whose work exemplifies the ideals of MADD.

Earlier this year, Ms. Bakker prosecuted a complex and difficult drunk driving case that resulted in the conviction of an offender who killed three people in a crash that took place in Gratiot County . MADD Michigan Executive Director, Homer Smith stated, “Ms. Bakker's effort and commitment helped achieve justice in a tragic situation. The result of this case is a message that if you drink and drive, you will be held responsible for your actions.”

The award was presented in August at the Prosecuting Attorneys' Annual Conference in cooperation with the Prosecuting Association of Michigan and support of the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning.
